How is it already February?

Friday, February 5, 2016

Happy Friday! We are ending the week here in Maine with some snow and while my ski-obsessed brothers couldn't be more happy...I, however, am bummed. This week we had temperatures in the 50s and it seriously felt like spring! This was such a crazy week and I am really going to have to nail down working a few days ahead of time on my posts. If I am ever going to blog five days a week, I would really have to crack down on my planning and organization. I don't know how so many others do it! Here are some favorites for the week!

Favorite Article: Either this Snapchat one from Buzzfeed or this one about kids who are too literal. Both had me laughing out loud!

Favorite Lust: I was in Sephora this week and I stood in front of this gel for a while debating whether or not to get it. I used a different exfoliating gel now, but I have heard good reviews about this one. Anyone have good/bad comments on it?

Favorite Funny:

Favorite Blog Post: Amanda from Meet @ The Barre is doing a photography tutorial series for bloggers and this week she talked about changing ISO to get perfect lighting for your pictures. She breaks it down so its super easy to understand. This series only makes me more motivated to save up for a DSLR!

Favorite Quote:

Favorite Moments:

1 // Starting my new job! I kept looking down at my badge and seeing "RN" made me feel like I was in a dream!

2 // John and I went to see one of my favorite bands, Reel Big Fish, last night. They are a ska band that has been together since the 90s and I love their sound! Their most well-known song is Sell Out...anyone heard of them before?!

3 // Shopping for a vacation that is coming up soon! I usually have such a struggle finding bathing suits that I like the fit of, but this year's search for them was relatively painless. Its a first world problem, I know!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Today is like my Sunday...I am working the weekend, yikes!

I talk about the weather so much, I should be a meteorologist.

Friday, January 22, 2016

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week. If you are in the part of the country that is supposed to get walloped with snow this weekend, then I am truly sorry and I imagine you will all really feel my post from Wednesday! I am spending the weekend with my nose in my study books and taking practice test after practice test, but will hopefully do a dinner out with John for a study break! Lets get on with some Friday Favorites.

Favorite Article: Small talk (aside from the weather!) is never something that I have felt comfortable with but feel like its something that we are all supposed to do in order to engage in conversation with each other. This article from the NYT's Modern Love column really hit home with me at the beginning of the week. I wish I could start off deep conversations like he does, but I just don't know if people would be as receptive as they were to him.

Favorite Lust: I have been eying contour palettes lately, and I just can't decide which one would work best. Cream or powder? I don't know! Brand? There are so many with good reviews! I really like the look of this one and this one too. And can't forget about this one! Does anyone have any insight into any of these?

Favorite Funny:

Earlier this week, John just randomly sent me a picture of a pine cone a stick...in reference to this vine that we both love. His way of saying he cares?!

Favorite Blog Post: This one from Helene in Between... I thought it was super funny and it inspired me to really make sure my personality is really infused in this blog! I don't love blogs that are all business, I want that personality to shine through!

Favorite Quote:
inspirational quote, motivational quote
I hope that studying more will bring me more luck!

Favorite Moments:

1 // I spent a lot of great one on one time with everyone in my family this week which is nice because we all have crazy schedules and are running in different directions!

2 // John and I didn't see each other much this week, but he always makes me laugh so hard when I do see him!

3 // This will make me sounds like a crazy cat lady...but when I am studying, the cats are always sitting nearby and it makes studying a little less lonely!

Stay warm if you are in a cold part of the country this weekend, and if you are in a warm part, know I'm jealous!

Where Can I Sign Up To Be Adele's BFF?

Friday, January 15, 2016

Happy Friday! Another week down in 2016, are you another step closer to reaching those goals and continuing on with those resolutions? One of my goals was to work up the courage to share my blog on Twitter so that more of my college friends would know about it and there were a few times this week where I came so close to just sharing it...but then I chickened out. Luckily, I still have 50 more weeks to work up the courage. Hopefully it won't take that long! Lets get into some favorites for the week!

Favorite Article: Yesterday, the 2016 Academy Awards nominations were released! I am a huge fan of movie and televison award ceremonies, but the Academy Awards are my absolute favorite. This year I am trying to watch all of the movies that are nominated for best picture, and hopefully some others as well. So far, I haven't seen any of the best picture noms, so I need to get watching! If you didn't see what was nominated, check out this article here!

Favorite Lust: We are going on vacation in a few weeks and I have been searching for shoes and sandals to wear while we are away. I really like these, but just don't like the $$$ tag for how much I would actually end up wearing them. I would most likely end up just sitting and staring at them, and just thinking about how much I like them...

Favorite Funny: I am sure so many people will be posting about this today, but I have watched it *so many* times and laugh harder each time so I wanted to share it with you, just in case you hadn't seen it. I just love her laugh...I want that to play on the radio! I'll admit that I wasn't a huge Adele fan before *gasp* but this video totally won me over. I wish I could be her friend! She just seems so down to earth and normal!

Favorite Blog Post: This post from Barefoot Blonde about visiting Woodstock, VT. Her photography is alway amazing, and her children are just the cutest! I mean look at that fox snowsuit...adorable. Also, even though she gets so many comments per post, I always get a response back from her to my comments...sounds silly but that means a lot coming from a blogger who's posts get so much attention!

Favorite Quote: On Wednesday, I wrote this post with six motivational quotes for the new year. My favorite of them all though, was probably this one:

motivational quote, inspiring quote

Favorite Moments:

1)  Made kick-butt turkey meatballs and pasta for dinner last night...I would share the recipe but I didn't measure anything out and just sort of threw it all together. Maybe next time I should keep track of it and take some pictures!

2) Watching so many of James Corden's car karaoke videos...I love the ones with Justin Bieber!

3) I activated my three month trial of satellite radio in my car and there are so many radio stations, which means I hate getting out of my car. Not to brag or anything, but I play steering wheel drums SO well...

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

First Week of the Year? Check.

Friday, January 8, 2016

Happy Friday! We made it to the end of the first week of the year! This week was a busy one for me...basically just work and studying so my brain is a little melted. I am so excited to be getting close to the point where I won't have to study. Only a few more weeks until the exam! Let's get on with some favorites for the week.

Favorite Show: John and I (embarrassingly) watched Making A Murderer in two days last weekend...we were totally hooked from the end of the first episode until the end of the docu-series itself. I don't want to give any spoilers away in case you haven't watched it (but you totally should) so I won't mention more. But just go watch!

Favorite Lust: My local Sephora is out of my holy grail product and I am patiently waiting for them to restock it! It is the best mascara I have ever used!

Favorite Blog Post: This one with Instagram tips from The Daily Tay....I was laughing so hard!

Favorite Funny: I saw so many Making a Murderer memes that made me laugh this week, but I don't want to post them for fear of spoiling the show for anyone who hasn't watched. But what also made me laugh was this PSA from, Buzzfeed star, Matt Ballassai...My mom and I are in love with his "Whine About It" video series and he ended up winning a People's Choice Award this week, but they showed the wrong person on TV!

PSA: I Am Matt Bellassai
A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTStop the epidemic of wrongful identification of award winners.
Posted by Matt Bellassai on Thursday, January 7, 2016

Favorite Moments:

1) Writing the posts about my personal goals and blog goals for the year!

2) John put together a bookcase for me and I was so happy to fill it with books. Is it weird that I love just looking at it?!

3) It hasn't happened yet, but I know getting out of working tonight will be such a good feeling because I am off tomorrow!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Graduation Is This Weekend?! | Friday Favorites

Friday, December 18, 2015

Happy Friday friends! Its the big day! No, I don't mean my nursing pinning ceremony, or graduation tomorrow, but finally the day we have all been waiting for...the new Star Wars movie! I know Star Wars isn't everyone's cup of tea, and I am sincerely sorry that you have had to hear so much about it everywhere you turn. But at 8pm tonight, know that I will be SO happily sitting in a movie theater, waiting for that opening music to play! And, I guess happy that I will have had my nursing pinning... just kidding, I will be super excited about it I'm sure! For now I am just nervous that I will trip walking across the stage. Onto favorites for the week!

Favorite Article: Even though I apologized before about talking about Star Wars, I should've said that it would be mentioned again in this post...so sorry again! Earlier in the week, I came across this article from Vogue, that gives insight on how to go about watching the Star Wars series if you've never seen it before. Personally, I subscribed to the 4, 5, 2, 3, 6 theory..but with 1 added in as well. So I guess 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6! If you are a Star Wars fan, let me know what you think about this!

Favorite Lust: I used the ABH dipbrow pomade, but want to try this out for my brows too...I get the impression that it is easy to use and more natural looking than the pomade!

Favorite Blog Post: This post about holding onto that special holiday feeling from Taylor on the The Daily Tay. It was so touching and really resonated with me!

Favorite Funny:  I was scrolling way too far back on funny Instagram videos and came across this Justin Bieber one...I seriously think I have watched it 500 times this week and laugh out loud every single time!

A video posted by @bestvines on

Favorite Moments:

1) Getting emails from my professors saying that all my grades have been finalized and sent off to the registrar for processing (spoiler: I passed everything).

2) All week long getting to say to myself, "This time next week, you'll be a full-time resident of Maine!" Nothing against Virginia though, I have LOVED my college experience here. I am just tired of the back and forth between states and living spaces...I just want to be in one place full time for a while!

3) Rewatching a few of the Star Wars movies so that I would be refreshed and ready to go for tonight...okay, that was really the last Star Wars mention for this post!

I cannot wait to share on Monday what ends up happening over the weekend (ie. Did I trip or fall?) I will definitely be taking a lot of pictures for family members that couldn't attend and to share on here of course! Also, so many of you have said congrats on graduating and your sweet words have meant so much to me! I hope you all have the best weekend!

Almost Halfway | Friday Favorites

Friday, December 11, 2015

Happy Friday friends! We are almost halfway to Christmas and I just received my last shipping notification I was waiting for from Cyber Monday shopping yesterday. So everything is either in the mail or has been received and so far, everything has come in good condition and I got what I was expecting. I feel like I have to talk about it on here, because I am horrible when it comes to keeping gifts a secret and I just want to give them as soon as I get them. I am getting it out of my system now! Let's get on to Friday favorites!

Favorite Article: I know this might sound silly, but I have always been a fan of Paris Hilton. I know, I know. She is definitely not a favorite to many, but I just appreciate her "do whatever I want" attitude and honestly, "Stars Are Blind" is a great song. I even had my hair cut short once after she cut her hair short....So when I was came across this article on her business ventures and how she really paved the way for reality television, I loved it!

Favorite Lust: Books like these....I know that they are all the rage right now, but I looked at them while at Michaels the other day and I can see why they are so fun!

Favorite Blog Post: I am a huge Harry Potter fan and was so excited to see a Harry Potter gift guide from Carly on The College Prepster! My favorite thing on the list would have to be the HP Boxed Set!

Favorite Funny: This! The monkey's reaction is too cute!

Favorite Moments:

1) Finishing my last college presentation. Now all I have left is a few days of a prep class for my licensing exam.

2) Getting to post this picture!

A photo posted by Meghan Farrell (@mfarrelll14) on

3) Finding out that I band I love, Reel Big Fish, is playing in Portland in February! John and I plan on getting tickets, and I already can't wait!

Going By Too Fast | Friday Favorites

Friday, December 4, 2015

Happy Friday! This week really seemed to fly by for me...is it because its the holiday season now? I feel like I look forward to December all year, but when it actually gets here, its over in the blink of an eye. Does anyone else feel that way? I was planning out my posting for the rest of the month, and looking at the calendar made me feel as if there wasn't even any more time left in the month! I know I was overreacting in the moment, but it made me realize that I need to slow down and appreciate the time I have to celebrate the holiday. I guess enough with my overthinking mind and on to my favorites for the week!

Favorite Article: An article filled with just gifs of Paul Rudd dancing. Oh how I love him! Its not a complete list though, because they didn't include a gif of him dancing in Clueless (one of my favorites).
Don't worry though, I found it! via

Favorite Lust: Everything on my Christmas wish list! If you were wondering, its already been sent off to Santa. Although, I am not sure its gotten there yet because mail to the North Pole can sometimes take a while...

Favorite Blog Post: I loved reading all of the gift guides that have been coming out on blogs, but ones of my favorites has been this one by Christina. I love how detailed and thoughtful it is, and there really is something for everyone!

Favorite Quote: I dedicated a lot of time to blogging this week and I just love the escape it provides me. Growing up, I would have easily told you that I don't have a creative bone in my body, but now I feel proud that I do have a creative outlet and its this blog (and makeup, haha!)

Favorite Moments:

1) Publishing my second video on here and on YouTube!

2) Cozying up on the couch on December 1st with cookie dough (don't worry, I didn't add egg) in hand while watching Love Actually. Its such a great movie to stir up holiday giddiness!

3) Crossed a lot of thing off on the "things to do before graduation" list that my roommate put together. Only 15 days now!

Did someone say Friday?

Friday, November 20, 2015

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week. I have been busy catching up with everyone at home and its been so nice to be back in Maine...although it is a little chilly! I have nothing big planned for this weekend, probably just spending time with friends and family. What are your plans for the weekend?

Here are some of my favorites for the week!

Favorite Movie Trailer
Have you seen the new trailer for Zoolander 2? It looks hilarious! I wish it was February already...

Favorite Lust:
This Kate Spade bag looks just like a regular bag but it has a very cool feature...a phone charger!

Favorite Blog Post
My favorite blog post this week was from Helene in Between, as she announced her new e-course...which is free! It is about how to build a successful blog, and I signed up right away because I have really be trying hard to amp up my blog game lately. I haven't started looking at the course material yet, but probably will today as I have some free time this afternoon!

Favorite Quote

Favorite Purchase
I was in T.J. Maxx this week with my mom and found a faux leather jacket for $25! I had seen so many cute photos this fall of people wearing leather jackets and had lusted after a couple online. I usually try to not buy things for myself in November or December, but I just couldn't help it. When I found one this week, I was so excited and you bet I have worn it every day since...It just seems to top off every outfit perfectly!

Favorite Moments
1) The feeling when I finished my last clinical before break
2) Having my mom pick me up at the airport in Boston
3) Having one of my cats wake me up at 4:45am yesterday wanting to play...I miss them so much when I am away at school, and being woken up by them is a nice reminder that I am home (still I hope he doesn't do it again tomorrow)

I hope you all have a great weekend!

You can always have more than one favorite...

Friday, November 13, 2015

Happy Friday! I feel like I blinked and this week went by. Is this how adulthood always is? If so, no thank you, I am going back to grade school. I had a same old week, with online class and blogging and so sometimes I feel like my eyes are going to burn out of my head from staring at the computer for so long. I read a blog post a few months ago about glasses that blocks the blue light from getting to your eyes that is emitted from the computer...has anyone tried those? I am seriously considering getting a pair! But enough with my rambling, and lets get on with some favorites on this great Friday! I usually do favorite links that I have found throughout the week, but today I was feeling like mixing it up and doing a whole bunch of different types of favorites!

Friday favorites, blog post,

Favorite Video
Please don't ask me how many times I have watched this video this week...its too embarrassing to count! I think its definitely been around for awhile, so I probably missed it when it was first out, but better late than never! Plus I don't think I will ever be able to get the song out of my head. Its slightly obnoxious, but completely endearing.

Favorite Music
I know I am late to the party (same with the video mentioned before), but I just downloaded Spotify a few weeks ago...and I am loving it! Its great to have the flexibility to be able to listen to any song I want on all of my devices. Last week, for their #TBT playlist, they had girl anthems from the 90s that include a lot of Alanis Morissette so I was really into that this week! The only thing I don't like about it is that now since I am listening to music a ton more, I have to wait until my roommates are out of the apartment so that I can have a concert in the shower without judgment.

Favorite Blog Post
I loved all the posts this week that had the best items to get for the Sephora VIB sale that starts today. I think I even started drooling while reading a few! My favorite post about it though was from Biana from B Love Boston because everything she included in her want list are things that I would lovvee to have...especially this and this too! Are you picking anything up from this sale?! Let me know!

Favorite Quote
I know I included her in my favorites post last week, but I was watching a Kandee Johnson video about how to have more self confidence with clothing and style in general (something I have lacked until very recently!). She quoted her grandmother who gave her a comeback to say when people gave her a hard time about what she wore...She said to say "Just be glad you don't have to wear it!" and I couldn't agree more. I actually wish I had seen the video at the beginning of the week when my roommate was dissing faux fur vests (which I love!)

Favorite Moment(s) of the Week
1. Realizing that Thanksgiving is only 13 days away now! I think I can already smell the turkey...
2. Sitting down to have coffee on Wednesday and thinking about how in a week from then, I will be having a cup of coffee with my mom.
3. Buying a sweater for John for Christmas that he really wanted, and then checking back the next day and seeing that it was sold out (and I probably got the last one!)

Favorite Surprise
Finally seeing the Finding Dory trailer come out! I have only been waiting since Finding Nemo came out like ten years ago. What are your thoughts on it?

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Its not too early for Christmas music, right?

Friday, November 6, 2015

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had a great week and recovered nicely from any Halloween exhaustion that you might have had! My week was pretty much the same old, same old with clinical, online classes and blog work. Since I spent so much time on my computer this week, I took my breaks in between work by browsing Twitter and YouTube, which gave me a lot of favorite links for this Friday! Here they are...

1. James Corden in Phantom of the Opera
James Corden is the host of The Late Late Show on CBS, and to be honest, I had never heard of him until I watched him present an award at this year's Emmys. He was absolutely hilarious and I googled him, asking myself "who is this guy and why haven't I heard of him before?!". After watching a few of his show's clips, I am totally hooked. While browsing YouTube this week, I found a clip from his show that I hadn't seen, but was hilarious. If you are a Phantom of the Opera fan, or just someone who likes to laugh (and who doesn't?) you have to watch this clip!

2. Kandee Johnson Makeup Videos

Kandee Johnson is a makeup artist who does amazing transformations...I watched so many this week and was just mesmerized. My favorite was the barbie one! If you check out her channel, tell me which one is your favorite!

3. 25 Days of Christmas Schedule

Now that Halloween is over, its time to start celebrating Christmas. I know, I know...I am one of those people that likes to start celebrating early! I can't wait to watch all of these! Anyone else?!

4. This post from Pinky @ Pink Persistence and this post from Julia @ Gal Meets Glam
These two were my favorite blog posts from this week! Pinky's post about gratitude really motivated me to start recognizing and giving thanks for the great things that I have in my life (both big and small!). She is always to inspirational and I love reading her posts!
The next post is a fashion post from Gal Meets Glam, and I just can't get over how gorgeous that purple coat is! She has amazing style and lives in the ever-fabulous San Francisco!

5. My own video....
...is that too cheesy? I am just so excited that I finally put myself out there! Thank you so much for the nice comments on my post about it the other day...I was so so flattered and reading those comments made my heart feel like it was going to explode out of my chest. Internet friends are the best! Also, speaking of friends...I have kept this blog a secret from my non-internet friends, up until last night when I sent the link to my best friend. (If you're reading, hi Sarah!) I was so nervous even though I had no reason to be, and she was more than supportive and excited about this blog. I feel like I can just tell everyone now!

I hope you all have a great weekend! What were your favorites for the week?

Hello, Halloweekend!

Friday, October 30, 2015

Happy Friday friends! I hope you all had great weeks and are ready for a fun Halloween weekend. I think I am going to have a relaxed Halloweekend...complete with scary movies, snacks and face masks galore (my new favorite beauty treat!). Let me know what you will be doing in the comments below!

For this five on Friday, I have picked out five links that I come across this week (and last!) and hope you will enjoy them just as much as I did!

1) Misunderstanding about Introverts

Life of an introvert, introvert quotes, Audrey Hepburn

At one point this week, I got stuck on the "Introvert" subreddit page on Reddit for an hour, just looking through the forum at different thoughts/opinions/stories of all the introverts that post there. I was just fascinated because I never realized how much of my personality is related to the fact that I am an introvert. For example, I love spending time with my friends (i.e. homecoming last weekend) but after a while, I like spending time by myself to recharge and get recollected/centered (hence why I cherished my alone time this week). I did more research into introverts and came across this article about common misunderstandings about introverts and I related so much to all of them! Anyone else an INTJ here?

2. Marvel Calender
Earlier this week, I watched Avengers 2 with my roommates (one of which is a HUGE Marvel fan) and afterwards, we were discussing what was the next Marvel movie to come out. We did a little research and found this great schedule of when all the movies are set to come out for the next few years. I know it'll probably be just a really small segment of you that'll check out the schedule of movie releases, but if it helps one person, I will be glad!

3. Star Wars Trailer
I know this was so last week, but I forgot to mention it in last week's post...but wasn't the new Star Wars trailer amazing? I am so excited for the movie, and its really all John can talk about. He is so excited in fact, he already bought me and my family tickets for the movie as everyone will be here in VA for my graduation because I graduate the day after the movie comes out. You can guess which event John is more excited about (if you say my graduation...you're probably wrong!).

4. 18 of Coach Taylor's Best Quotes

Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't Lose. Friday Night Lights.

I finished Friday Night Lights yesterday and then spent an obscene amount of time looking through Buzzfeed at all the FNL quizzies and articles. My favorite was this article that listed out 18 of Coach Taylor's (*swoon*) best quotes. He is so inspirational! Also, according to the Buzzfeed, my soulmate is Matt Saracen, lucky me!!

5. Helene In Between's Post about Photo Editing
Helene's post on photo editing yesterday really helped to introduce to me the other photo editing websites and computer apps that are out there to edit with. I am usually a dedicated PicMonkey user, but off of her recommendation, I had to try Canva! I played around with it last night (see the picture quotes above, haha) and loved how easy it was to use and all the different fonts/layouts available. From now on I will definitely be switching back and forth between the two! Thanks Helene!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

5 Exciting Things

Friday, October 23, 2015

Happy Friday people! I hope this week was a breeze for you and that you have exciting plans for the weekend. My weekend plans are a part of the five exciting things that I have to tell you about so lets get on with this five on Friday!

1. My visit home
A few weeks ago, I was able to rearrange my schedule a bit to be able to fly home for a long weekend...actually a really long weekend (Wednesday- Monday). Since it has been hard for me in the past to get home during September/October, it had been a few years since I had seen Maine in the fall. However it was just as beautiful as I remembered. I was even excited when the weather was a bit chilly, because it made the visit just a perfect fall weekend. We went apple picking as a family (but really, the best part was the warm donuts we bought there!) John and I were able to have a date night out at one of our favorite restaurants, and I was able to visit with friends who I hadn't seen since I left to go back to school in August. But most importantly, I saw my cats and dog! Obviously, the weekend went by so fast...Since I was able to do so much though, I was satisfied when I was leaving and just reminded myself that in order to come back, I had to leave first!
fall, apple picking, couples
John looks so #fall in this picture and I love it!

fall, apple picking, family
My little brothers aren't so little anymore!

2. Senior Capstone
Last week was my last week of my senior capstone for nursing! At JMU, for eight weeks, we get to to a nurse preceptor one-on-one and we get to follow their schedule and learn from/work with them. I worked 3p-3a (hence my trouble keeping up with writing) in an emergency department, and to say I learned a lot is an understatement. I love the pace and the turn over of patients, and I love that I can see a whole range of issues in just one shift. What I found difficult was patients who weren't pleased with waiting and also getting myself acclimated to working a partial night shift. However, towards the end of my eight weeks, I really found myself enjoying the night aspect and I was able to get used to the schedule. I started to feel like a real nurse and I was loving it!

3. Rocking my practice exam
On my days off for the past eight weeks, I was studying because in order to actually become a registered nurse, I have to pass a licensure exam (the NCLEX) after I graduate. In the past few weeks, I really amped up my studying as I had a special practice exam this week that is designed to predict whether or not we will pass the NCLEX. Although I was super nervous and felt like all the studying I had done hadn't stuck in my brain, I did a great job on the exam and according to this test, I have a really good chance of passing the NCLEX....Will that stop me from continuing to study like crazy and stress about having to take a licensure exam? No. But was it nice to know that my study habits must be effective and that I can continue doing my thing? You bet!
NCLEX, studying, nursing
Just a few of my review books...

4. Homecoming weekend
This weekend at JMU is homecoming! We have a bunch of people coming to stay at our apartment and plans to tailgate the game tomorrow. But what is different about this homecoming weekend, compared to past years, is that the ESPN College GameDay show is being filmed live on our campus on tomorrow! Its a big deal for us, because we aren't a big SEC school or one that gets a lot of attention so this is definitely JMU's chance to shine and maybe get more notice for the future. So if you are bored Saturday morning between 9-12...turn on ESPN and watch to see my beautiful campus!
homecoming, JMU, football
Throwback to homecoming last year!

5. Future exciting plans
I love this time of year because there is so much happening all in a short span of time. We have Halloween coming up, and then a few weeks after, my family is coming to visit. Next, I have a good chunk of time off for Thanksgiving. After, I come back to school for just a few weeks and then I GRADUATE! I am so ready and so incredibly excited to finally be done with school and get on into the working world. I can't wait to get started as a nurse once I pass my exam and finally put to use, all the things I have learned!

I just realized that I basically wrote a novel for today's post, and I understand that since it's Friday you might be too tired to read it all. So if you're skipping to the end, I will do a TL;DR for you...many exciting things have happened, and many exciting things are coming up. You're welcome! Also, I promise to be back next week to talk about TV and my mascara. Are you excited because I am!

TGIF & Talking About TGIT!

Friday, September 25, 2015

Happy Friday people! I hope you had a great week and have fun plans for this weekend. I have clinical tonight, a CPR class tomorrow morning, and most importantly, a downtown beer fest tomorrow afternoon. I am bummed about the rain that is supposed to happen, but at least the weather will be cool enough for me to get my fall style on! What are your plans for this weekend?

Now lets talk about somethings from this week...

1) TGIT
First, can I just say that this was such an exciting week for television? At the beginning of the week, we had the Emmy Awards and then there have been so many season premieres since then! There has been so much chatter around me at home/school/on the internet about all of the Shonda Rhimes' premieres. However, I am feeling kind of left out that I only watch one out of three Shonda Rhimes' shows. I have been a Grey's Anatomy fan since middle school, but never started watching Scandal or How to Get Away With Murder (*collective gasp from the internet*). I know, I know...I am missing out, right?! After I am finished watching Friday Night Lights, I should probably catch up with Scandal. I have just been hesitant to in the past, because I don't like to watch shows on Netflix where the series isn't finished. Its hard to keep up with TV shows that are premiering new episodes every week! Are you a Scandal or HTGAWM fan? Maybe I could be convinced to put a pause to FNL and pick up one of the two...

2) Amy Schumer's Post Interview at the Emmy Awards
"I think we all know how I am celebrating later..." I know she can be crude, but I think she is just a riot! I love how genuine she seems to be, and is unapologetic for it! It was one of my favorite moments of the Emmys when she and Amy Poehler presented an award together...I wrote about more of my favorite moments of the Emmy Awards earlier in the week so check those out!

3) Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Collab
I found out this week that Gwen Stefani collaborated with Urban Decay on a cosmetics line and I am too excited about it! Gwen Stefani has been one of my idols for such a long time...she is so fierce and just plain cool. I can't think of anyone better for UD to work with to create a line of makeup because Gwen has such a distinct look to her. Bold red lips and sharp, rocker eyes are what I am expecting from this collaboration!

4) Mighty Mighty Bosstones Tickets
One of my favorite bands since middle school, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones (a mouthful of a name!), is playing in Boston in December & John and I got our tickets yesterday! We went to see them last year at the House of Blues in Boston and had an absolute blast. They are a ska band (basically rock/punk rock with brass instruments thrown in) and I can't wait to dance my butt off this year!

5) Some Pin-spiration...
advantages of being messy, pinterest, quotes, pinspiration

slightly strange, quotes, inspiration, Pinterest, motivational quotes

I hope you all have a great weekend!

My obsession with SnapChat is growing...

My feelings about Friday summed up in a picture.

TGIF. JK. I mean, I am happy its Friday, but I have to work tomorrow so I feel as though the purpose of Friday is a little defeated. Anyways, even though the ER is calling my name Saturday, I still have fun plans for this weekend! On Sunday, I will be going to the Old Port Fest, which is a music/food/fun festival that is hosted in downtown Portland. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will be nice!

Here are some five favorites from this week!

1. Celebrities/Bloggers/Vloggers on SnapChat.
My favorites are Julia from Gal Meets Glam (snapchat: galmeetsglam), Paris Hilton..she travels so much (snapchat: realparishilton), and Carly from College Prepster (snapchat: collegeprepster).

2. Ingrid Nilsen's Coming Out Video
I have been watching Ingrid's videos on YouTube for over a year now and I love her style, makeup, and lifestyle tips. I am so happy for her that she has decided to give herself her best chance and live her life as who she truly is! We all deserve to be happy!

3. Another Buzzfeed article about Liz Lemon
My spirit animal.

4. Karen Walker gifs
This post had me cracking up!

5. Sassiest 6-year-old dancing to Respect
I am sure this video will be in many Friday favorites posts all over the blogosphere today...it is just that funny! Definitely going to be watching this video the next time I need a boost of confidence because she has plenty to give out! You can't watch this video without smiling!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Linking up today!

Is it too late to talk about Memorial Day?

Friday, May 29, 2015

Yay for Friday! I hope you all had great weeks and have even better weekend plans. Lets get on with five on friday!

Memorial Day // I wanted to do a recap of my MDW, but work exhaustion caught up with me (see below!) John and I went with our friends down to their family's lake house on Cape Cod. It was a little chilly, but it was nice to get away for the weekend. We went out to eat, down to the beach, and did a bit of shopping. My favorite part was driving through the neighborhoods with houses right on the water. The homes were gorgeous to look at and I could only dream to set foot in one someday! We had a great time overall. I love little weekend trips because its easier to do a few spread out through the summer, rather than try to take off a whole week of work to do a full vacation.

Work // Today is the end of my second week of work at my new job (tech in an emergency department) and I am loving it so far. Its very similar to my job last summer, but the commute is much shorter...yay for saving gas and time!

Sunscreen Scare // Came across this page and was freaked out that all the sunscreen I use could be dangerous...but then looked further into the issue of oxybenzone in sunscreen and it results are very inconclusive so who knows!

Jack Rogers // Found this babies on sale and couldn't resist! I am slowly breaking them in and I am finding them to be so comfortable. Do you have a pair and love them?

Some funnies from the weekend //

Have a great weekend!
