Instagram Favorites: Fashion

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

I know that most of us here in the blog world appreciate Instagram...its my favorite social media account and I don't care what Essena ONeill says about it. Not only do I follow my friends and fellow bloggers, but I follow a lot of accounts for laughs, for their makeup/clothing inspiration, and for their cute animals. I did a post back in the spring about my favorite cat and dog Instagram accounts, and I thought I would continue that series today with my favorite fashion accounts.

1. @galmeetsglam //  Julia is the gal behind Gal meets Glam and she has a beautiful wardrobe. She also does so much traveling and does photo shoots in amazing locations...you have to check out her latest posts from Colorado! I feel like I talk about her a lot...both with friends and on here. She tweeted back at me a few weeks ago and I might have fangirled (a lot).

2. @carly // Carly is a blogger and creator of The College Prepster so you can guess her style is...yup, preppy! I think I tend to dress fairly preppy, so I love going to her account for inspiration.

3. @emilyanngemma // Emily is the blogger behind The Sweetest Thing and I am obsessed with her style! If I could be half as trendy as she is then I would be more than happy!

4. @maine_blonde // I found her while searching for Maine Instagram accounts and I couldn't get over how stylish she is!

5. @inthefrow // Victoria is a British blogger/YouTuber who has her PhD in fashion, so how could I not include her on this list?! She has gorgeous style and hair that I could never even dream of pulling off, but she does it perfectly!

Instagram Favorites: Cats & Dogs

Thursday, April 16, 2015

As someone who is shamelessly obsessed with Instagram, I follow so many accounts of fashion/travel/food/beauty bloggers, as well as companies and artists. However, what pictures always make me smile are the cat and dog ones! I wanted to share a few of my favorite cat and dog Instagram accounts with you!

1. @tyrionpuff // Any animal named after a Game of Thrones character is bound to be a star...but what I love most about this account are all the captions.

2.  @darcythegoldenpup // I can't resist goldens!

 3. @pitterpatterfurryfeet // Even non-cat-lovers have to say that these are gorgeous cats!

4. @wilsonsworld2 // I wish this dog could be my best friend!

 5. @cutieandthebeast // Doesn't this make your heart melt?

6. @shimejiwasabi // They have a lot of cats AND a golden retriever...my dream.

If you don't Instagram it, did it really happen?

Basically my life motto (see above). Instagram is definitely my most favorite social media app, and editing pictures is one of my favorite little hobbies. Here are a few apps I love using when editing pictures!

Afterlight

Some of my friends think I am crazy for this, but I actually paid for my favorite Instagram picture editing app (its only $0.99). Afterlight is totally worth it, I swear! There a lots of filters to use that edit the picture just enough to make it look good, but not enough for it to look too edited. This is my go-to app for editing. I even use it to edit some pictures for this blog as well!

Studio

This is probably my second most used app, and I use it in probably every one in three pictures on Instagram. It has a ton of uses (and it's free!), and I think its kind of like an Instagram-type app...but I really only use it to make bigger pictures fit into the smaller square shape that Instagram likes pictures to be. It basically shrinks the picture down and creates the white borders on the sides (similar to Whitagram, but I prefer this). You have to "post" the picture in order to be able to save it to your camera roll, but I never really check the feed!

PicMonkey

I feel like this is an obvious one for us out here in the blogging world! I mostly use it to add text to pictures...I don't really love the filter choices! Some features are free, and I find it enough to definitely make do! Are there any of you out there who have upgraded to the pro "Royale" version? Is it worth it?

What apps do you enjoy using for editing?

A picture is worth a...blog post?

Saturday, October 4, 2014

Two prompts in a row where I have to make serious decisons...yesterday being the one thing I couldn't live without and now today I have to pic my favorite picture on Instagram? Life is not fair...just kidding, I'm really digging #Blogtober14 so far!
As I am furiously scrolling through my Instagram feed to figure out which picture is my favorite, I can't help but get little butterflies in my stomach when seeing all these happy memories saved forever on the internet. Most of the pictures I post commemorate some really great moments in my life and I love being able to relive them with the quick opening of an app (another reason why I can't like without my iPhone...see yesterday's post).
The picture I finally decided on (drumroll, please)....

This picture was taken on Easter, when John and I were in Washington D.C. for the weekend to visit all the museums. I like the picture because John looks like a cutie, I was having a good outfit day, and it reminds me of what a blast we had that weekend. We attempted to go to all the Smithsonian museums over the course of two days and did SO MUCH walking (see here for a better recap)!
There is a funny story behind this picture too...We were sitting on a half wall facing the Capitol building to rest our aching feet, and a young woman from another country came up to us to ask if we would sign a birthday card for her best friend in our native language. As I was signing the card, I noticed that there were birthday wishes for her friend in so many different languages and I thought it was such a clever idea! After I had signed the card, I asked her for a favor in return...to take a picture of John and I!

What is your favorite Instagram picture?
