2016 Blog Goals

Wednesday, January 6, 2016

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is doing well with this first week after the holidays...we are halfway to the weekend! This week has made me hangry due to my post-holiday detox diet (why did you have to eat so many Christmas cookies, Meghan?!) and stressed because of studying for the NCLEX. I know it takes a few days for the body to stop those sugar cravings, so hopefully by the end of the week I will have stopped staring lustfully at the candy jar on the living room table...

blog goals, new years resolutions

If you recall Monday's post, I talked about my personal goals for 2016 and today I will be talking about my goals for this blog. I am super excited to get these down in writing, because they are things that I have been thinking of for a while now. I don't know if it was noticed, but starting in mind-October, I really tried to amp up this blog. While I know there is a lot I still need to work on, I am proud that I have really stuck to my plan over the past few months and I want to bring the momentum I have gained into the new year.

But before I can continue on with my goals for this year, I would like to reflect back on my blog goals from 2015. I want to share what I did accomplish and also what I didn't...

// Learn how to make a blog button.
// Reach 60 Bloglovin' followers by the one year anniversary of Me as Meghan.
// Go on adventures/try new things in order to gain experiences that I can turn into interesting and thoughtful posts  This one!
// Post at least three times a week Although it took me until October to get the MWF posting down consistently, this is something that I am really happy with!
// Sponsor another blog
// Host a giveaway
// Tell my friends about this blog I told my best friend who has been more than supportive! While I know I should tell more people, I think I have a better plan for this for 2016...
// Have a better blog schedule, where I plan out my posts a few weeks in advance I have post ideas and blog plans written down in my planner, it has made blogging so much easier!

By the end of 2016, I hope to accomplish...

// At least three fashion posts

// Sponsoring another blog (I have already started to research what blog would be best!)

// Host a giveaway

// Reach 250 Bloglovin' follwers

// Blog everyday for one month

// Share my blog on Twitter and Instagram

// Make a lot of layout updates...especially my About Me page!

// Buy my own domain name

I hope that this time next year, I will be crossing all of these things off in a post about my blogging goals for 2017! What are some of your blog goals for 2016?

2015 In Review

Wednesday, December 30, 2015

Happy Wednesday! I have been buried in watching Gossip Girl unpacking the past few days...I'm trying to make the most of the space I have in my room and trying to get rid of all the clutter that has accumulated in my room over the past few years. I have hoarder tendencies and I have tried to be ruthless in what I have been throwing away. Do I really need bank statements from 2013? Shirts that I haven't worn in a few years? Barely used hand lotion from a yankee swap that I don't like the smell of? NO! I am hoping to get everything finished today, so wish me luck!

Today, with NYE looming, I wanted to look back on the year on this blog...so here we go!

3 Most Popular Posts of 2015

1. Almost Halfway | Friday Favorites

I don't know why, but I think its so funny that a Friday Favorites post was my most popular post of the year! I still think that monkey video is hilarious...

2. 6 Tips For Combating Stress

These kinds of posts are my favorites...you know I am a sucker for lists! I get a lot of hits on this post through Pinterest which makes me happy because I really tried to create more "pin-able" images this fall. My increase in Pinterest traffic has definitely proven that I did right with a few pictures!

3. You Can Always Have More Than One Favorite... | Friday Favorites
I am glad that there are two Friday Favorites posts in my top three most popular posts of the year because I love writing them! They are a great way to look back on the week, and I love making little lists to look back to about what I was favoriting at the time.

My Personal Favorites

1. Netflix Picks #1: Independent Girly Comedies

I love watching/talking/researching movies and I don't know why I didn't think of this little post series sooner! I will definitely be continuing it into 2016!

2. A Very Special Five on Friday

Its corny, I know, to include this as a favorite post of the year, but I loved going back through five years worth of pictures of us and posting a few.

3. Everyday Makeup Routine | Video

I just had so much fun making this video, because I just love watching everyday routines. I got so much great feedback on this video too... I felt/feel so lucky to have people say such kind words!

This book was definitely my most favorite read of the year. I still swear that Tina somehow can read my mind and she transcribed it all into this book!

I hope you enjoyed these posts over the year! Also, since this will be my last post before New Year's, I wish you all a happy and safe holiday! Cheers to the New Year!

8 Ways To Conquer Long Drives

Wednesday, December 16, 2015

If there is one thing that I know for sure, its how to survive a long drive. The drive from my family home in Maine, to JMU in Virginia is about 12 hours including three stops and I have done it more times that I can count. I have tried every which way to make the ride better, some of which actually helped and some made the ride worse. I am sharing what I have learned in hopes that it will help someone else!

tips for long drives, road trips

1 // Take good snacks // Although I am sure fruits and vegetables keep you feeling great, the one snack that I always have on hand during a long drive is sour patch kids. Yes, I know its random, but when I am feeling tired I just snack on a few and I swear the sourness perks me back up. I would tell you that one time, on a drive home, I only had a whole bag sour patch kids and three Dunkin' Donuts iced coffees...but why would I scare you like that?!

2 // Download an audiobook // I know a lot of people enjoy Audible.com, but did you know your kindle has a "read to me" feature? That means most of the books you buy can be read aloud.

3 // Break out that mixtape // you know that one you made as a freshman in high school. Sing your heart out!

4 // Plan out your stops ahead of time // I always stop at the same three places that I know are well lit and safe for a young woman traveling by herself. If you are traveling with others, then you don't have to worry about this as much...but its something to think about!

5 // Dress comfortable // While you won't be doing any physical activity, wear those yoga pants and sneakers!

6 // Be careful about who you bring with you // This sounds weird, but I just mean that if you aren't a fan of small talk, then don't get stuck in a car with someone who you feel like you need to have small talk with for hours on end. As someone who isn't a fan of small talk, I have learned to be cautious about this...In some cases I truly enjoyed the peace that driving solo can bring!

7 // Review your route before you get in the car // GPSs are great, but I always make sure I have an idea of what my route is even if I know I am going to have my Maps app on during my drive.

8 // Get a good night's sleep before the drive // I hope this would be assumed, but it really does make a difference...trust me!

Let me know if you have any tried and true tips that your swear by for long drives!

Almost Halfway | Friday Favorites

Friday, December 11, 2015

Happy Friday friends! We are almost halfway to Christmas and I just received my last shipping notification I was waiting for from Cyber Monday shopping yesterday. So everything is either in the mail or has been received and so far, everything has come in good condition and I got what I was expecting. I feel like I have to talk about it on here, because I am horrible when it comes to keeping gifts a secret and I just want to give them as soon as I get them. I am getting it out of my system now! Let's get on to Friday favorites!

Favorite Article: I know this might sound silly, but I have always been a fan of Paris Hilton. I know, I know. She is definitely not a favorite to many, but I just appreciate her "do whatever I want" attitude and honestly, "Stars Are Blind" is a great song. I even had my hair cut short once after she cut her hair short....So when I was came across this article on her business ventures and how she really paved the way for reality television, I loved it!

Favorite Lust: Books like these....I know that they are all the rage right now, but I looked at them while at Michaels the other day and I can see why they are so fun!

Favorite Blog Post: I am a huge Harry Potter fan and was so excited to see a Harry Potter gift guide from Carly on The College Prepster! My favorite thing on the list would have to be the HP Boxed Set!

Favorite Funny: This! The monkey's reaction is too cute!

Favorite Moments:

1) Finishing my last college presentation. Now all I have left is a few days of a prep class for my licensing exam.

2) Getting to post this picture!

A photo posted by Meghan Farrell (@mfarrelll14) on

3) Finding out that I band I love, Reel Big Fish, is playing in Portland in February! John and I plan on getting tickets, and I already can't wait!

What were some of your favorites this week?

My 5 Favorite Christmas Movies

Wednesday, December 9, 2015

Happy Wednesday! I am feeling back to 100% after feeling not so great this weekend, which is good because I am wrapping up classes and putting final touches on projects left and right! I am very borderline stressed about about finishing up the semester, graduating, rushing back to Maine and jumping right into Christmas there. To ignore all the stuff I have to do relieve some of that anticipatory stress, I have been watching a lot of movies because I think they are great ways to continue the Christmas spirit. I thought I would share some of my favorite Christmas movies!

1// Elf // I think this might be on everyones favorite Christmas movies list...its just a classic! For me, the best thing about this movie is how quotable it is. John and I can never ever say "10 AM" without following it up with "Santa's coming to town!"

2 // Home Alone // Once again, I would assume that this is a pretty popular one as far as Christmas movies go. That being said, I think it is a well deserved favorite. How many times can I watch the end where Harry and Marv are subjected to Kevin's clever booby traps? The limit does not exist.

3 // A Christmas Story // Watching this movie on Christmas Eve night was my family's tradition for a long time so I have such positive memories of it. Its also SO funny, so its one I highly suggest.

4 // Eloise at Christmastime // I always try to catch this movie on ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas and every year I tell myself I need to buy it! It is such a cute movie...Eloise is the sassiest little girl and I would love to have a day in her shoes living at the Plaza Hotel!

5 // National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation // I'm not sure if I have mentioned it on here before, but my family's favorite movie is National Lampoon's Vacation...and Christmas Vacation is not far behind on that list! Like Elf, it is often quoted in our house. Its subtle in the movie, but we love "I don't knowwww Margo!"

What are some of your favorite Christmas movies?

9 Feelings You Have When You're Sick

Monday, December 7, 2015

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I spent mine tucked in bed with what I can only assume to be a virus of some sort since I already got my flu shot for the season. I had the whole nine yards of the chills, aches, fever, and exhaustion. I was kind of bummed because I only have so much time left at school, and the last thing I wanted was to be stuck in bed. However, I would rather it happen now, then graduation weekend!

Since I didn't have much to write in the way of a weekend wrap up, I thought I would write out a few feelings in gif form that I figure most of us share when we are sick.

1// When you've left your bed for more than five minutes...

2// When anyone asks how you are doing

3// When you self-diagnose from WebMD

4// Realizing you'll have to cancel plans...

5// But you're an introvert you're secretly happy about cancelled plans and staying home...

6// When you think you've permanently become a part of the couch

7// After you have't left the house for a few days and you're going a little stir crazy...

8// When you realize you're out of Advil...

9// When you wake up and realize you feel better...

I wish you all a great week, and I hope I made you laugh a little!

Christmas 2015 Wish List

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Happy December! I know its the second day of it now, but since I didn't have a post yesterday, I still wanted to say it! I always try to make December first extra Christmassy to kick off the whole month, so last night my roommate and I watched Love Actually with Christmas lights and a pine-scented candle.

We thought we deserved a chill night since we spent most of the day studying and working on our online classes (while listening to Christmas music, of course!) Since I am now fully in the Christmas spirit, I thought I would share what I am wishing for this Christmas.

Christmas 2015 Wish List

Here are the items in the picture (working from left to right-ish):

Santa, if you're reading, I have been really good this year!

Thanksgiving Break To-Do List

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

This post is an exciting one, because I am writing it from the comfort of my own bed at HOME! I made it! I had a hectic past few days...Like I mentioned in my post Monday, I hustled over the weekend to get my online class work done for the week so that I wouldn't have to worry about it while I was home for Thanksgiving break. Then Monday, I had a clinical shift at the hospital for the day, and had a quick turn around to get up yesterday at 2:30 am to start my journey home. I had a super early flight at an airport about an hour from school so I made my way there and fortunately had good luck with both of my flights. On one flight, I watched Me, Earl and the Dying Girl...have any of you seen it?! It reminded me of an indie-ish version of The Fault in Our Stars, but part of me liked it better than TFIOS. But anyway, I made it back to Maine safe and sound and happy to be with my animals again, and my family too!

During this break, there is a lot I was hoping to get done, both fun and not so fun. I started a list on my notes app on my phone, but then decided to publish it on because I always find myself to be a little more accountable for my to-do lists when I put it out into the universe on here. Here's what I was thinking for this break!

1. Figure out what I am getting everyone on my Christmas list. I am so excited that there have been so many posts on gift guides already because I need some inspiration!

2. Read at least one book for leisure on this break. I am hoping my mom has some good recommendations from her book club! If not, I have a huge to-read list of my own.

3. Study the equivalent of at least 20 minutes everyday. I am home for 12 days, so thats 240 minutes at minimum, and I will probably break this up into larger hour-long sessions so that I have a few free days. I plan on taking my licensure exam in January so I need to start upping my studying!

4. Help my mom with making a gallery wall. We started it over the summer and bought all of the frames, but never got around to picking the right photos for them.

5. Play this trick on my cats.

6. Go for a couple good, long walks with my dog. We have a great walking/running/biking trail near me that is beautiful to walk along and I would love to spend some quality time with Reilly out there!

7. Find a dress for graduation. I have already tried on a few, but haven't seemed to find the right one!

8. Clean up and organize my room. I know this sounds silly, but I have accumulated a lot of unnecessary junk in my room over the past few years from only being home for summer and holiday breaks. I want to get it all cleaned out and organized so that its easy to move back into in December!

How organizing/cleaning has gone in the past for me with my cats around...via

9. Try at least one new restaurant or bar. There are so many restaurants/bars in Portland and I feel like I have only really touched the surface of them!

10. Try to work on a content calendar for December. Do you guys do content calendars/find them helpful if you do? I have a notes section on my phone for writing down thoughts about new posts, but never plan out ahead of time when I am going to do them. I was thinking that with the last month of school coming up with graduation and the holidays, it might make things easier for myself if I really work hard to plan out my posts!

If you have a break or a few days off for Thanksgiving, is there anything special you plan on getting done? Besides demolishing the Thanksgiving leftovers...

Instagram Favorites: Fashion

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

I know that most of us here in the blog world appreciate Instagram...its my favorite social media account and I don't care what Essena ONeill says about it. Not only do I follow my friends and fellow bloggers, but I follow a lot of accounts for laughs, for their makeup/clothing inspiration, and for their cute animals. I did a post back in the spring about my favorite cat and dog Instagram accounts, and I thought I would continue that series today with my favorite fashion accounts.

1. @galmeetsglam //  Julia is the gal behind Gal meets Glam and she has a beautiful wardrobe. She also does so much traveling and does photo shoots in amazing locations...you have to check out her latest posts from Colorado! I feel like I talk about her a lot...both with friends and on here. She tweeted back at me a few weeks ago and I might have fangirled (a lot).

A photo posted by Julia Engel (Gal Meets Glam) (@juliahengel) on

2. @carly // Carly is a blogger and creator of The College Prepster so you can guess her style is...yup, preppy! I think I tend to dress fairly preppy, so I love going to her account for inspiration.

3. @emilyanngemma // Emily is the blogger behind The Sweetest Thing and I am obsessed with her style! If I could be half as trendy as she is then I would be more than happy!

4. @maine_blonde // I found her while searching for Maine Instagram accounts and I couldn't get over how stylish she is!

5. @inthefrow // Victoria is a British blogger/YouTuber who has her PhD in fashion, so how could I not include her on this list?! She has gorgeous style and hair that I could never even dream of pulling off, but she does it perfectly!

6 Tips for Combating Stress

Monday, November 9, 2015

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a quick little trip up to northern Virginia for a memorial wheelchair basketball tournament for my mom's best friend's son (same one I wrote about last year) and it was so nice to visit with my family and my mom's best friend/her family. We hadn't seen them since the tournament last year so we were absolutely due for a visit with them! They are just the sweetest family (extended family too!) and I love spending time with all of them. Since I have written all about the tournament before, I included the link to that post above. I wanted to share a little bit about de-stressing today, instead of a weekend wrap up!

When I got back yesterday, I had the worst emotional combination of stress and anxiety and sadness. I was sad for having to say goodbye to everyone and then stress/anxiety about a presentation I had to work on for my clinical group at the hospital today. Do you ever get so worked up about doing something (homework, actual work, anything really) that you just stress about stressing about it? That's what I was doing yesterday. I worked myself up into a tizzy during the drive back to my apartment about prepping for my presentation and then when I got back, I was too worked up to work. Weird, I know! In order to chill myself out, I did a couple of short activities to make myself focus on what I needed to accomplish for the day. I wanted to share those things today just in case I could help anyone else!

tips for getting rid of stress, combating stress

1) Make a to-do list
In this case, I had to break apart all the different sections that I had to cover for my presentation and so I could focus on just one part at a time. I love the feeling of accomplishment after I get to cross something off the list and it helps to give me motivation to keep working.

2) Have some tea
Specifically herbal tea, and not a tea with caffeine in it. For me, too much caffeine makes me too wound and feeling even more anxious. Today I went for a lemon tea, but I would also recommend chamomile!

3) Take a shower
Kind of an cheesy, but I swear showering washes away my stress. Showers really relax me and help to clear my mind so I can really focus on the task at hand and not the hundred other things that are running through my mind (Like other homework/missing my family/the blog/dinner/laundry/etc) .

4) Call/text someone...
...who will really set you straight. For instance, I texted my friend who has all the same classes/work as I do and asked her if I really needed to be stressing about the presentation as much as I was. She promptly responded that I didn't need to worry for another second and that it was ridiculous that I was stressing. Although a little harsh, it was well appreciated and snapped me back to reality!

5) Work really hard for one hour
Then re-evaluate whether you should really be stressed about what your doing. Chances are, if you really kick ass in that hour, that you'll get a lot more done than previously expected and feel less stressed about whats left to do.

Although an annoying tip, I thought I would include it anyway as the last one...

6) Plan ahead to prevent stress!
Like I said, its an annoying tip, I know! There is always good intentions to plan ahead and get everything done so that you don't have to worry about XYZ in the future, right? In this case, I actually had got a good chunk of the work done before the weekend started, since I had known that I was going to be super busy with the tournament. I think had I just done an hour or two more of work before the weekend then I would have been way less stressed yesterday evening. Even though I could have done more, I know I still helped myself a lot by getting some done beforehand. If I hadn't, this post probably wouldn't have been able to be written last night! For the most part, I am pretty good about planning and use my planner and to-do lists to help keep me in line.

I know there are so many tips out there, but these are the ones that I have found to work best for me! What are your tips for de-stressing?

Its not too early for Christmas music, right?

Friday, November 6, 2015

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had a great week and recovered nicely from any Halloween exhaustion that you might have had! My week was pretty much the same old, same old with clinical, online classes and blog work. Since I spent so much time on my computer this week, I took my breaks in between work by browsing Twitter and YouTube, which gave me a lot of favorite links for this Friday! Here they are...

1. James Corden in Phantom of the Opera
James Corden is the host of The Late Late Show on CBS, and to be honest, I had never heard of him until I watched him present an award at this year's Emmys. He was absolutely hilarious and I googled him, asking myself "who is this guy and why haven't I heard of him before?!". After watching a few of his show's clips, I am totally hooked. While browsing YouTube this week, I found a clip from his show that I hadn't seen, but was hilarious. If you are a Phantom of the Opera fan, or just someone who likes to laugh (and who doesn't?) you have to watch this clip!

2. Kandee Johnson Makeup Videos

Kandee Johnson is a makeup artist who does amazing transformations...I watched so many this week and was just mesmerized. My favorite was the barbie one! If you check out her channel, tell me which one is your favorite!

3. 25 Days of Christmas Schedule

Now that Halloween is over, its time to start celebrating Christmas. I know, I know...I am one of those people that likes to start celebrating early! I can't wait to watch all of these! Anyone else?!

4. This post from Pinky @ Pink Persistence and this post from Julia @ Gal Meets Glam
These two were my favorite blog posts from this week! Pinky's post about gratitude really motivated me to start recognizing and giving thanks for the great things that I have in my life (both big and small!). She is always to inspirational and I love reading her posts!
The next post is a fashion post from Gal Meets Glam, and I just can't get over how gorgeous that purple coat is! She has amazing style and lives in the ever-fabulous San Francisco!

5. My own video....
...is that too cheesy? I am just so excited that I finally put myself out there! Thank you so much for the nice comments on my post about it the other day...I was so so flattered and reading those comments made my heart feel like it was going to explode out of my chest. Internet friends are the best! Also, speaking of friends...I have kept this blog a secret from my non-internet friends, up until last night when I sent the link to my best friend. (If you're reading, hi Sarah!) I was so nervous even though I had no reason to be, and she was more than supportive and excited about this blog. I feel like I can just tell everyone now!

I hope you all have a great weekend! What were your favorites for the week?

Hello, Halloweekend!

Friday, October 30, 2015

Happy Friday friends! I hope you all had great weeks and are ready for a fun Halloween weekend. I think I am going to have a relaxed Halloweekend...complete with scary movies, snacks and face masks galore (my new favorite beauty treat!). Let me know what you will be doing in the comments below!

For this five on Friday, I have picked out five links that I come across this week (and last!) and hope you will enjoy them just as much as I did!

1) Misunderstanding about Introverts

Life of an introvert, introvert quotes, Audrey Hepburn

At one point this week, I got stuck on the "Introvert" subreddit page on Reddit for an hour, just looking through the forum at different thoughts/opinions/stories of all the introverts that post there. I was just fascinated because I never realized how much of my personality is related to the fact that I am an introvert. For example, I love spending time with my friends (i.e. homecoming last weekend) but after a while, I like spending time by myself to recharge and get recollected/centered (hence why I cherished my alone time this week). I did more research into introverts and came across this article about common misunderstandings about introverts and I related so much to all of them! Anyone else an INTJ here?

2. Marvel Calender
Earlier this week, I watched Avengers 2 with my roommates (one of which is a HUGE Marvel fan) and afterwards, we were discussing what was the next Marvel movie to come out. We did a little research and found this great schedule of when all the movies are set to come out for the next few years. I know it'll probably be just a really small segment of you that'll check out the schedule of movie releases, but if it helps one person, I will be glad!

3. Star Wars Trailer
I know this was so last week, but I forgot to mention it in last week's post...but wasn't the new Star Wars trailer amazing? I am so excited for the movie, and its really all John can talk about. He is so excited in fact, he already bought me and my family tickets for the movie as everyone will be here in VA for my graduation because I graduate the day after the movie comes out. You can guess which event John is more excited about (if you say my graduation...you're probably wrong!).

4. 18 of Coach Taylor's Best Quotes

Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't Lose. Friday Night Lights.

I finished Friday Night Lights yesterday and then spent an obscene amount of time looking through Buzzfeed at all the FNL quizzies and articles. My favorite was this article that listed out 18 of Coach Taylor's (*swoon*) best quotes. He is so inspirational! Also, according to the Buzzfeed, my soulmate is Matt Saracen, lucky me!!

5. Helene In Between's Post about Photo Editing
Helene's post on photo editing yesterday really helped to introduce to me the other photo editing websites and computer apps that are out there to edit with. I am usually a dedicated PicMonkey user, but off of her recommendation, I had to try Canva! I played around with it last night (see the picture quotes above, haha) and loved how easy it was to use and all the different fonts/layouts available. From now on I will definitely be switching back and forth between the two! Thanks Helene!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

TGIF & Talking About TGIT!

Friday, September 25, 2015

Happy Friday people! I hope you had a great week and have fun plans for this weekend. I have clinical tonight, a CPR class tomorrow morning, and most importantly, a downtown beer fest tomorrow afternoon. I am bummed about the rain that is supposed to happen, but at least the weather will be cool enough for me to get my fall style on! What are your plans for this weekend?

Now lets talk about somethings from this week...

1) TGIT
First, can I just say that this was such an exciting week for television? At the beginning of the week, we had the Emmy Awards and then there have been so many season premieres since then! There has been so much chatter around me at home/school/on the internet about all of the Shonda Rhimes' premieres. However, I am feeling kind of left out that I only watch one out of three Shonda Rhimes' shows. I have been a Grey's Anatomy fan since middle school, but never started watching Scandal or How to Get Away With Murder (*collective gasp from the internet*). I know, I know...I am missing out, right?! After I am finished watching Friday Night Lights, I should probably catch up with Scandal. I have just been hesitant to in the past, because I don't like to watch shows on Netflix where the series isn't finished. Its hard to keep up with TV shows that are premiering new episodes every week! Are you a Scandal or HTGAWM fan? Maybe I could be convinced to put a pause to FNL and pick up one of the two...

2) Amy Schumer's Post Interview at the Emmy Awards
"I think we all know how I am celebrating later..." I know she can be crude, but I think she is just a riot! I love how genuine she seems to be, and is unapologetic for it! It was one of my favorite moments of the Emmys when she and Amy Poehler presented an award together...I wrote about more of my favorite moments of the Emmy Awards earlier in the week so check those out!

3) Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Collab
I found out this week that Gwen Stefani collaborated with Urban Decay on a cosmetics line and I am too excited about it! Gwen Stefani has been one of my idols for such a long time...she is so fierce and just plain cool. I can't think of anyone better for UD to work with to create a line of makeup because Gwen has such a distinct look to her. Bold red lips and sharp, rocker eyes are what I am expecting from this collaboration!

4) Mighty Mighty Bosstones Tickets
One of my favorite bands since middle school, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones (a mouthful of a name!), is playing in Boston in December & John and I got our tickets yesterday! We went to see them last year at the House of Blues in Boston and had an absolute blast. They are a ska band (basically rock/punk rock with brass instruments thrown in) and I can't wait to dance my butt off this year!

5) Some Pin-spiration...

Fall 2015 To-Do List

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Happy First Day of Fall!

I got a little to overzealous about today being the first day of fall and wore jeans and a fleece pullover to campus for a meeting...not realizing it was actually 75 degrees and sunny outside. I just want it to be sweater weather, okay?! I never really appreciated fall until I left Maine and went to Virginia for college. Since I have been gone, I understand how lucky I was to have beautiful falls in Maine. If this sounds a little bit like I am homesick to you, you're right...I just book flights home for Columbus Day weekend though so only two weeks until I am back!
There is so much I want to do this fall, and since this is a relatively short season (only October and November, if you think about it!) I wanted to write it all down so I could make sure I got everything done that I wanted to.

~Go apple picking and make an apple pie.

~ Blanket scarves. (Need I say more?)

~Watch as many Halloween-themed or scary movies as I can.

~Go for a walk where I can get a perfect view of the changing leaves.

~Rock the darker lip colors. (hello to dark cranberry and almost purples, am I right?!)

~Eat all of the candy corn.

~*Attempt* to make a warm apple cider cocktail.

~Celebrate JMU homecoming with my best friends.

Most of all, I want to try being more adventurous this fall. I posted the picture below on my Instagram the other day, and I truly believe what it says. Fall is the time for starting something new and changing and I feel like I could change to be a more adventurous person. So to do that, I want to try one thing that pushes me outside of my comfort zone. I am not exactly sure what that will be yet, but this new season upon us just has me feeling inspired!
