10 Ways to Procrastinate Studying for Finals

Monday, April 27, 2015

Since I have seen a lot of posts recently on surviving finals week... I thought I would give you some of my personal favorite procrastination tips just in case you aren't ready to spend endless hours in the library staring at a study guide with highlighter all over your hands and coffee spilled down your favorite sweatshirt. For those of you who are fortunate enough to be passed the college phase of your life, I want to know what your tips are for surviving finals week, especially when the forecast says its going to be 80 degrees and gorgeously sunny outside.

1. Watch Game of Thrones
and wonder how many times a month the actress who plays Daenerys Targaryen needs to dye her hair to keep it that blonde.

2. Scroll through your own Instagram
and reminisce about better times (like when you weren't in the library). Loved this pic from this past weekend at Foxfield!

3. Bake cookies
because calories don't count during finals.

4. Learn how to make a killer paper airplane
so your friend can literally send a guy her number from across the room.

5. Rearrange your Pinterest board

6. Watch the Bruce Jenner interview
and be amazed by some people's bravery to show their true selves to the world.

7. Try on your summer clothes
to just get you excited for summer...anyone else do this?

8. Flood your BFFs snapchat with very unflattering pics
does this need more explanation?

9. Take a nap
the answer for everything

10. Schedule out every hour of your day
and then ignore it because you are not yet at the panicking stage of finals week.

I hope this gave you some inspiration to go get procrastinating!

**disclaimer...I swear I'm a very good student and I will do fine on my finals! I love my classes and already have study guides for all of my exams next week and have started studying for them!**

3 Reasons Why This Weekend Was The Best.

Monday, April 20, 2015

1 // Formal
My favorite picture of the night!

Blurry bus pic!

Felt obligated to throw the "official" pic in...but I don't like it because we don't look centered!

I loved seeing the Washington Monument! We had a gorgeous view of The Capitol building but of course, I didn't snap a pic!

My sorority (Alpha Sigma Tau) had our spring formal this weekend! It was an "away" formal in Washington D.C. on the Spirit of Washington boat. It was a beautiful night to be outside so we spent most of our time on the deck enjoying the sights! I felt like a disco queen in my black jumpsuit with glittery gold pumps and gold jewelry. I wish I had taken more pictures, but I was swept up in the excitement of the night and only got a few shots. I was happy to have John by my side this weekend too..it had been a few weeks since we had seen each other and I had missed him terribly! Even when our bus from the hotel to the boat dock was lost and we thought we were going to miss the boat, he had me laughing which took my stress away! I am so thankful that he is in my life. Also, I am thankful that my sorority has provided me with so many cool experiences over the past four years and it was so bittersweet to have such a fantastic time for my last formal.

2 // Lilly for Target
With the excitement of formal this weekend, guess who forgot that the Lilly for Target line came out online in the middle of the night Sunday? Yep, me. So when my mom called yesterday morning to tell me that she had been to Target and had been able to get a few things from the line, I was beyond excited! She's mailing it down to me this week and I cannot wait to try it all on. Mom, if you're reading this...YOU'RE THE BEST, THANK YOU!

3 // Start of Good Times
This weekend kicked off a series of busy (good busy) weekends! The good company, good weather, and good memories made me so excited for everything that I have coming up. Next weekend, my best friend is coming to visit and we are headed to Foxfield, which is a horse race in Charlottesville! My mom is mailing my wide brimmed hat this week so I'll be all ready to go! In the weekends following the next one, I have fun sorority events, John's graduation and his graduation party. Its crazy that I have two more weeks of regular classes, a week of finals, and then I am home for the summer. BRING IT ON!

I hope you all have the best week and that your Monday goes by quickly! If you aren't having a good Monday and need a laugh...Here's a candid of me sharing my whiny realization that the worst part of wearing a one piece jumpsuit is having to go the bathroom. I am sure you can imagine why they would be so much trouble!

Instagram Favorites: Cats & Dogs

Thursday, April 16, 2015

As someone who is shamelessly obsessed with Instagram, I follow so many accounts of fashion/travel/food/beauty bloggers, as well as companies and artists. However, what pictures always make me smile are the cat and dog ones! I wanted to share a few of my favorite cat and dog Instagram accounts with you!

1. @tyrionpuff // Any animal named after a Game of Thrones character is bound to be a star...but what I love most about this account are all the captions.

2.  @darcythegoldenpup // I can't resist goldens!

 3. @pitterpatterfurryfeet // Even non-cat-lovers have to say that these are gorgeous cats!

4. @wilsonsworld2 // I wish this dog could be my best friend!

 5. @cutieandthebeast // Doesn't this make your heart melt?

6. @shimejiwasabi // They have a lot of cats AND a golden retriever...my dream.

Let's be thankful for motivational quotes on Pinterest.

Friday, April 10, 2015

Happy Friday! Another week is done...thank goodness. The closer we get to summer, the happier I feel myself becoming. I hope you all had a great week and plan to have an even better weekend. Today, I am talking about five favorite things I read/watched/did/etc. this week. Let's get on with it!

1. Coffee
Coffee was my best friend this week...with two tests this week demanding my attention, to say I was melted is an understatement.  We have a Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks on campus so I feel spoiled by my coffee options!

After reading this article, I am tempted to not let anyone borrow my brushes again!

3. Game of Thrones
Who else is anxiously awaiting Sunday for the start of GoT? I am waiting until next Friday when John and I are together to watch it, but I am just happy we are so close to a new season. I am so curious to see what happens with the Stark sisters and what will happen in King's Landing...trying to be a little vague so I don't spoil anything for anyone!

4. Motivational Quotes
Looking through Pinterest for motivational quotes this week definitely gave me a little extra "umph" to keeping studying. Here are a few favorites:

5. Weekend Plans
This weekend is the last weekend of the semester that is relaxed and without any strict plans. My only real plan is that I am being inducted into alumni status in my sorority on Sunday, but I don't really want that to happen...so I am pretending like its not going to happen! Other than that, I need to get laundry done, figure out some logistics/planning for my next few weekends, and relax after this crazy week!

What are you loving this week?

I was the kind of kid who...

I was the kind of kid who...

Had an invisible friend (is this normal? I don't know.)
~
Loved to read.
~
Played games in the woods for hours and hours.
~
Told everyone I had two stomachs...one for regular, boring food and the other one for dessert (and my dessert stomach was never too full for dessert obviously.)
~
Had an interesting music taste (among my CD collection you would find Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and Pure Disco Volumes 1, 2 AND 3...okay, and Pure Funk).
~
Was painfully shy.
~
Loved dolls...Barbies, Polly Pockets, and American Girl dolls!
~
Loved watching movies (I think my favorites were The Lion King and The Little Giants.)
~
Thought ketchup was it's own food group.
~
Was obsessed with cats.
~
Liked to sing...even if I wasn't very good at it.
~
Thought Full House and Saved By the Bell were the best shows ever.
~
Never changed. I may be taller, a little less naive, and wear more makeup...but I swear these things apply to me now(maybe not playing with dolls and in the woods), as much as they did then.

The Daily Tay
Thanks to Taylor over on The Daily Tay for putting this link up together! It was a great idea and so fun to do!

Shopping, Sunless Tanner, and Studying.

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all are recovering well from busy weekends and ready to tackle the week ahead. I had a great Easter weekend and I wanted to share some bits of my weekend with you!

Friday

Headed down the Nelson 151 trail, just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia that is home to a ton of  wineries, cideries and breweries. We went to two wineries, a cidery, and the brewery that makes my favorite local beer! I had too much fun and can't wait to go again to do more tastings!

Saturday
weekend finds #1

Started off the with a shopping bug and an email from Old Navy that dresses were $10 so I headed over there to check it out. I tried on a ton of dresses but found that none of them fit comfortable or looked right so I settled for buying a black tank that will be perfect for summer nights. Then, I went to Target and got myself lost in the beauty aisle looking for some new products! I ended up with two nail polishes, an eye liner and some sunless tanner. Then spent the rest of the day catching up on work and watching movies! Netflix picks to be coming soon!

Sunday/Monday
Woke up and realized that I did not apply the tanner right thus I looked like tiger because I had so many stripes on me. It didn't much matter though because I spent both Sunday and Monday in the library studying for a critical care test that I took this morning. Although, I did make sure to wear long sleeves and long pants because the tan stripes with that bad...

What did you do this weekend?

Return of Kermit the Frog?

Friday, April 3, 2015

Sometimes when I fall behind with blogging, I feel like it is harder to pick back up again...Does anyone else notice that? I have noticed it with other things like cleaning and exercising. Why is life like this? Aside from my philosophical thoughts, I want to say congratulations because we all made it to Friday! I thought I would do five favorites for this week, so enjoy!

1. Lavender
I have been lighting my lavender candle all week long because I love how fresh the scent is! Also, I have been loving the color of lavender as well and plan to buy a lavender nail polish this weekend because it would be perfect for spring!

The Office celebrated 10 years since the first episode last week and this compilation of quotes was posted on Buzzfeed. It had me laughing out loud! I miss Dwight!

3. Keds
I think I have worn my new white pair every day this week. They just look so crisp and are so comfy, I just can't help it!

4. FULLER HOUSE AND THE MUPPETS
It was a great week for the TV world, people. The Muppets are being considered for a new spot on ABC and a Full House spin off, Fuller House, may have been signed for 13 episodes on Netflix. Its all my 7-year-old-Meghan dreams come true!

5. Crying
I know this seems like a weird thing to list, and its not so much a "favorite" but just something I did a lot this week. Not for any major reason (PMS?) but I just found the tears were flowing like a waterfall this week! I was in the dining hall eating dinner earlier in the week, and Jewel's You Were Meant For Me came on the radio...Next thing I knew, I was taking my glasses off to wipe away the tears! Embarrassing, believe me! Maybe I just have overactive tear ducts?
